The NEXTGen Detroit Associate
This position is responsible for event planning, fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement along with their team.

Primary responsibilities:
• Work with NEXTGen Detroit staff and leadership to strategize, develop and implement innovative, exceptional programs and events
• Host individual meetings with young adults looking to get involved with NEXTGen Detroit
• Build strong and positive relationships within the NEXTGen Detroit community
• Develop and maintain programs and events with NEXTGen Detroit’s partners
• Cultivate effective relationships with board members, volunteers, donors and colleagues
• Build relationships with donors and solicit gifts at telethons and/or face-to-face meetings
• Assist in all programs and identify new individuals for outreach
• Work closely with NEXTGen Detroit volunteer and professional teams to engage the community in the NEXTGen Detroit annual campaign plan
• As a NEXTGen team member, work closely with the team to develop and plan fundraising events and programs on a variety of scales from intimate to enormous
• Assignments may include support to or collaboration with other departments as needed
• Work with Philanthropic Advancement team to identify, cultivate and secure sponsorships as needed

Required Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Strong team player – we are all about collaboration
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Experience and interest in creative use of social media tools
• Passionate about supporting and building a NEXTGen Detroit community, while strengthening Jewish identity and connection to Detroit Jewish life and Federation
• Strong cultivation/engagement skills and relationship building skills with the NEXTGen Detroit
community, including those who are unaffiliated and disengaged
• Programming experience
• Familiarity with Jewish culture and the Jewish community
• An ability to handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively
• Must be able to work some evenings and some weekends (flex time offered)
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media tools
• Comfort and skill in direct fundraising is a plus, including experience with the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of campaign donors and event sponsors. We are willing to teach the right person who has an interest in fundraising.
